In keeping with Marymound values and its mission of helping children, the organization launched a different approach to raising funds while providing opportunities for growth and learning for its youth.
‘Marymound Good for Youth!’ Social Enterprise was developed to not only raise funds but also provide real work experience opportunities for their youth to help them overcome the many barriers to future employment. This additional approach to fund development will also help position Marymound for much needed additional funding.
In the past year, four pillars of social enterprise initiatives were created:
Marymound’s Red Seal Chef works with youth in the kitchen as they learn about food handling, ingredients and food preparation. The youth gain confidence by learning a skilled trade to help further their independence as they enter the workplace. By choosing Marymound Caters! you will enjoy scrumptious food offerings and friendly service, as well as benefiting the futures of our community’s most vulnerable youth.
Youth are able to learn about the hospitality industry and some of its many facets such as room set-up, food prep services and delivery. These new skills help Marymound’s young people gain experience and confidence that remove barriers to further their transition to independence. By choosing Marymound Hosts! you will enjoy the benefits of friendly service and professional settings as well as benefiting the futures of our community’s most vulnerable youth.
Marymound Works! through the Marymound Student Work Experience Education Program (SWEEP) looks after your yard year-round! Your business gives young people in your community an opportunity to gain experience and develop new skills that help prepare them for independence.
