Group Homes
Marymound operates six community group homes in Winnipeg, each offering a welcoming and nurturing environment for four to six young people. Emphasis is placed on promoting healthy, age-appropriate activities and interaction, while still providing a therapeutic milieu, including counseling, support and psychiatric consultation. The group homes are:
- Dreamcatcher (girls 12-17)
- Marygrove (girls 8-12)
- Matheson (girls 12-17)
- Rose Hall (girls 13-17) specialized for youth at risk of being sexually exploited
- Sinclair (boys 8-12) specialized for youth at risk of being sexually exploited/abused
- Bagosenim (all genders 12-17) assessment and planning
The young people who come to Marymound are often struggling to overcome multiple challenges including abuse, family breakdown, addiction, mental health issues and learning disabilities. Marymound staff members are experienced and skilled at working with young people with high needs requiring an exceptional level of care.
Marymound strives to offer the best chance for success to young people needing treatment-based care. With our wide range of placement options, youth can move on to other Marymound programs as their development progresses.
Education is a Priority
The goal for all young people residing in Marymound group homes is to attend school – either the school in their community or at Marymound School. All transportation arrangements are looked after by the group home staff.
Family
Marymound knows how important family can be in the lives of young people in care. Family connections are maintained through regular contact including visits home for weekends and holidays whenever possible. Supportive family counseling is available when it is needed.
Spiritual and Cultural Care
All youth in Marymound’s care have access to the Indigenous Cultural Program.

Marymound is part of the network of services affiliated with the Manitoba Strategy Responding to High-Risk/Vulnerable Children and Youth (Stop Sex with Kids).
The community group homes provide:
- Resiliency Framework: relationship building, strength based, attachment understanding and trauma informed care
- A stable safe environment in residential neighborhoods
- Therapeutic milieu with full access to Marymound’s treatment and support resources
- Youth attend community or Marymound School
- Psychiatric consultation and support
- Promotes healthy, age-appropriate activities, interactions
- Clinical services – individual, group/family counselling
- Access to Marymound’s Indigenous Cultural Program
- Commitment to transition planning upon discharge to family, foster home, group home or independent living with the help of Marymound’s large array of services
- Family-centered approach maintains family of origin connections whenever possible
- Connections to the community
- Rose Hall and Sinclair also provide comprehensive assessment of risk factors and safety issues related to sexual exploitation/ abuse.
- Support of a Marymound Outreach worker through StreetReach
- Support of Marymound community night floats
- Opportunity to be part of the Student Work Experience Education Program, where applicable
