Marymound North
Children and families in Thompson, Manitoba and surrounding communities are well served by the wide range of programs and services provided by Marymound North. Always keeping the best welfare of our young people in mind, our programs work together, joining forces to provide the best possible combination of services and support to benefit young people and their families. The Receiving Home, Treatment Foster Care and Futures provide a continuum of programming that offers a rich resource for local families.

Receiving Home
Children and teens (0-17 years) waiting for long term arrangements find a welcoming home-like group environment at the emergency receiving home at Marymound North. Our staff is highly trained in cultural awareness, behaviour management, trauma awareness, grief and loss, Early Childhood Development, first aid and non-violent crisis intervention. They are well-versed in the effects of sexual abuse, sexual exploitation and gang involvement in adolescents.
Our family-focused practice encourages supervised family visits so that children remain connected to their families. We work closely with schools, ensuring that children’s education is not compromised. When the school year is over, summer programming keeps our young people busy and active.
Young people and their families access the Receiving Home through referral by their child welfare authority.
