Marymound School is taking the predicted flu outbreak this fall very seriously. We will do everything possible to keep our students and staff healthy and to ensure that their school year is interrupted as little as possible due to absence.

We have put into place many additional safeguards per instructions from Manitoba Health. These include:

  • Hand sanitizer gel is available in each classroom, in the school office, library and resource room
  • Disinfectant wipes available in each classroom in the school office, library and resource room
  • Cleaning schedule of common areas has been stepped up, with more frequent sanitizing being done on hard surfaces, i.e. computer keyboards, doorknobs etc.

Additionally, teachers will include health etiquette as part of their classroom curriculum, encouraging students to:

  • Wash hands regularly with soap and water
  • Cough into a tissue or into their elbows or sleeves
  • Avoid touching their mouths, noses and eyes
  • Stay away from school is they are ill.

How do I know when to keep my child home from school?
If your child is coughing and has a fever above 38 Celsius and has any of the following symptoms: joint/muscle aches, sore throat, or weakness/fatigue, he or she should be kept at home. You may also want to call your family physician or Health Links at 788-8200.

If you have further questions about Marymound School’s flu preparations, contact the school office at 336-5285.
