“I’ve been with Marymound for 4 ½ years and have enjoyed each and every day. The environment and support at Marymound fosters a place where I have been able to grow in my career and as a person. I have never doubted for one day that I wasn’t meant to work here. I truly enjoy working with the people I do and respect what the organization stands for. You will always find a fellow “Marymounder” to listen or offering a helping hand.”

~ Lori Elias, Administrative Services Coordinator

“The day I walked into this building for my interview, I knew that I wanted to work here.  It felt warm, welcoming and nurturing. I made the right choice to accept the offer of employment as the sense for the physical building transferred into how Marymound actually operates and is shown by how all staff treat one another with compassion and respect.  I’m proud to say I work for Marymound.”

~ Brenda Cannon, Manager, Human Resources

“There is something special about Marymound – an intangible spirit that permeates the entire organization. It derives in part from the legacy of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, some of whom still reside here and are a joy to interact with every day. It is also the staff and the dedication they exhibit to their work – whether it be working with the youth every day, maintaining our IT, or preparing meals. Overall, there is a caring, respectful and appreciative quality that makes everyone feel welcome and valued. We are quite a team!”

~ Gwenda Nemerofsky, Manager of Communications

“I think it’s all about the people. First are the kids; we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them. I sometimes tell them that we work for them (they laugh). But the transformation that we usually see is amazing. Then there are the staff, day in and day out, commitment to the kids as if they were their own - amazing again. And Marymounders… something very special indeed about all the people who work at MM, making everyone feel like friends and family all the time (neat).

And of course the Sisters, I’m not sure what it is - something divine I guess, that makes everyone proud to be a part of such a wonderful organization.”

~ Denis Robidoux, Group Home Program Coordinator

“Marymound encourages staff to participate in the various celebrations that are observed which include school opening, school grad and ceremonial days that pertain to culture and observation of religious holidays. During these ceremonies I met many of the children who are associated with Marymound and decided since I don’t work hands-on with them I would become a Marymound volunteer. I spend time with one of the young boys who attends the school and is in foster care. It has proven to be a profound experience. I am so grateful to work here, and so respectful of the employees who work tirelessly to improve the lives of these children.”

~ Gerry Alcock, Payroll Administrator

“I like working at Marymound as the Cultural Coordinator - not only do I get to interact with the children/youth I am part of all programs within Marymound. It is exciting and fulfilling to see the youth and children connect to their Aboriginal Identity.”

~ Charlene Calder, Aboriginal Cultural Coordinator

“I go home with a good feeling every single day. When you actually have a wait list of students who want to get into your various art/music programs you know you are doing something right. I only wish I could fit them all in, because they all deserve the chance to try new things.”

~ Karen, Creative Arts Teacher
