Did you know that:
Manitoba has the highest rate of child poverty in Canada?
Poverty, abuse and neglect can result in countless negative consequences, including:
- Behavioural problems
- Drug and alcohol abuse
- Gang involvement
- Unwanted pregnancy
- Criminal behaviour
- Living on the streets
- Sexual exploitation
- Self-harming behaviour
Your help means so much
Your donation of $50, $75 or even $100 supports Marymound’s work with these young people before they turn to any of the above. It can also help them if they have already become involved with negative influences.
You can choose to donate to a specific program that is meaningful to you. You may want to provide funds towards our Bursary Program or you might want us to apply your gift to the areas in which it is most needed.
You can select the best option for you.
Our Programs and Services are designed to work with and help young people at-risk in the community – and we now provide services for as many as 1200 young people each year. Slowly but surely, Marymound is helping to turn things around for Manitoban youth who might otherwise have nowhere to go for help.
Here are some ways your donation can make a difference:
- Help families get the support they need to help their children grow and thrive.
- Ensure that young people unable to live with their families have a place to live that looks after their physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs.
- Help young people learn to break the cycle of abuse and violence.
- Make sure young parents in Manitoba’s North have the help they need close to home.
- Make available to young people the specialized and individualized treatment they may need.
- Ensure that youth and their families receive help during crisis due to issues such as sexual trauma, abuse and parent-teen conflict.
- Offer students at Marymound School the same resources as students at other Winnipeg schools.
- Provide the support young people transitioning from care to independence need to be safe and successful.
- Ensure that we all benefit from strong healthy families making a positive contribution to our community.
- Give youth the skills and experience they need to write a resume, search for work and find employment
