Marymound’s comprehensive spiritual and cultural services are part of what makes our services unique. Many of the young people receiving services at Marymound are of First Nations or Métis descent. Most have experienced discrimination, racism and an absence of knowledge about their heritage and culture. Marymound believes that cultural awareness and pride are key components to healing.

The Spiritual Care Program and Aboriginal Cultural Services Program provide spiritual care and counseling to the young people and families Marymound serves through traditional services, groups, and special celebrations.

Aboriginal Cultural Services
For many of the young people at Marymound, their healing journey starts with an introduction to our cultural services program. Often, it is at Marymound that young people recognize the depth and strength of their own heritage. An Elder provides traditional Aboriginal cultural and spiritual teachings to the young people and families receiving services from Marymound.

Spiritual Care Program
Marymound also has a Christian-based Spiritual Care Coordinator who provides pastoral care and counselling. Students and residents are encouraged to explore spirituality in a way that is comfortable for them.

All students, youth in care, volunteers and staff have access to spiritual care and Aboriginal cultural services.
