Marymound staff and volunteers hosted a wonderful Garden Party to honour the Sisters of the Good Shepherd outside their residence at Marymound on a picture-perfect day.

Sisters Lorraine Perreault, Brigid Hussey, Florence McCadden and Barbara Wells were greeted and thanked by hundreds of well wishers for their many years of love and caring for thousands of children and youth and their impact on so many lives.

It was an emotional day for many as they witnessed heartfelt and kind words from various guest speakers of Marymound’s past and present. Other special guests outside the organization shared of their connection to the Sisters from various perspectives, all remarking on their decades of dedicated caring for children and youth. The day’s program also featured a presentation of a few gifts that included a framed staff photo for each Sister and a precious patch quilt identifying all of Marymound’s programs that were greatly appreciated and graciously accepted.

The Sisters of the Good Shepherd may be officially leaving on July 3rd but their legacy is firmly in place. The values and standards they uphold for over a hundred years will remain the cornerstone of Marymound’s mandate as the staff continue to respond to the needs of young people with compassion and care.

We wish the Sisters a heartfelt and fond farewell. They will be missed dearly.
