Testimonials from Marymound Staff

Read below to hear what staff members feel about working at Marymound. Their enthusiasm and recognition of Marymound’s uniqueness is unmistakable.

“I think it’s all about the people. First are the kids; we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them. I sometimes tell them that we work for them (they laugh). But the transformation that we usually see is amazing. Then there are the staff, day in and day out, commitment to the kids as if they were their own – amazing again. And there is something very special about Marymounders”–all the people working at Marymound– who make everyone feel like friends and family all the time (neat).

And of course the Sisters, I’m not sure what it is – something divine I guess, that makes everyone proud to be a part of such a wonderful organization.”

~ Denis Robidoux, Cultural Coordinator

“Marymound encourages staff to participate in the various celebrations that are observed which include school opening, school grad and ceremonial days that pertain to culture and observation of religious holidays. During these ceremonies I met many of the children who are associated with Marymound and decided since I don’t work hands-on with them I would become a Marymound volunteer. I spend time with one of the young boys who attends the school and is in foster care. It has proven to be a profound experience. I am so grateful to work here, and so respectful of the employees who work tirelessly to improve the lives of these children.”

~ Gerry Alcock, Payroll Administrator

“I go home with a good feeling every single day. When you actually have a wait list of students who want to get into your various art/music programs you know you are doing something right. I only wish I could fit them all in, because they all deserve the chance to try new things.”
